OGUN (PAPA OGOU IN HAITIAN VODOU)

The word griot in Haitian Kreyol is a food made of fried pork. In West Africa the word griot means a storyteller. I love both, lol. Good food (and a cold beer) with a good story.

Ogun is the spirit of iron, lightening, war. He is all man a sexy. Women all over are in love with Ogun. He treats women like queens and works hard to please women. There is a story about the importance of iron. The story is African. I am sure you know it, but no one tells a story they same as the next person.

From the time we are born to the time we die iron plays a role in our lives. At birth the knife used to cut your cord; iron. At death, the shovel used to dig your gave; iron. In life, the tools used to work the land so we have food to eat; iron. The pots we cook the food in; iron. The tools to hunt meat; iron. The weapons of war to defend our freedom; iron. Every day we see Ogun working in our lives. Stop and take notice.
