The Left Hand Path In Haitian Vodou Voodoo

THE LEFT HAND It is considered very bad and offensive to use the left hand to give anything to the loa. Don't sprinkle with the left hand. Not because it is Petro. It is not. In Haitian Vodou , if your position in the cards is to the left of someone, it is not good. If you have a dream and someone hands you something with the left hand, it is bad. Even if they handed you money. This comes from West African traditions. Where a lot of our loa are from, before adopting Haiti. It comes from Islamic traditions. Some of our loa are served in the Islamic rites. When we say something or a spirit is left handed. It does not necessarily mean Petro. Petro loa are Ginen loa. Ginen is the right hand path. Rada is often said to be right hand and Petro left hand. This is where you need to burn those western voodoo books, lol. Left hand is djab. I have heard with my own ears, bokors pray to " King Lucifer" to start a work djab. The bokor will tell you that name means "of the light". That is the aspect of that spirit they using. This is left hand path, not Petro loa. Petro loa are Ginen. But still don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, lol!!! This saying is true of Rada and Petro loa. We serve them on separate days and place where they don't face each other. But the are both Ginen. Peace and love from Mambo Odette

Ive heard that the reason we dont use the left hand for offerings (this is almost universal) is because toilet paper wasnt always around and ppl would use their left hand to clean somit was considered impure.
